Meet the Dempsey Brothers: Our 25-Year Journey from Yellow Dog Design to Browne & Co.

If you’ve ever clipped on one of our leashes, matched your collar to the season, or just appreciated a lot of design for a fair price in the pet aisle, then you’ve become part of our story—a family company rooted in art, the people behind our brand, and a genuine love for dogs, even the small ones.

From Greensboro Beginnings to a National Pet Brand

Browne & Co.’s origins trace back to Yellow Dog Design, founded in our hometown of Greensboro, NC in 2001. We were born to a family of four boys, raised by a tireless mother, both alumni of Grimsley High School, and taught to make our life what we wanted it to be. After starting families and dabbling in various careers, we came together in 2001 with over 18 years of combined experience in dye sublimation and printing to start our dream of doing pet accessories differently.

What started as custom, hand-drawn artwork crafted into colorful collars, leashes, and harnesses in our 15,000 sq ft printing facility, grew steadily as pet parents and boutique retailers fell in love with the designs. The facility wasn't just a factory—it was where art met practicality, and where our beloved dogs (Batman, Sugar, Wilson and a Dachshund named Twinkie) helped test every product—often doubling as mischievous lunch thieves.

From Art on Collars to a Family Brand

Fast forward 25 years, and we were ready for a fresh chapter—one that carried forward our passion for design, quality, and authenticity. Today, Browne & Co. is the beautiful evolution of that vision: still family-owned, still based in Greensboro, and still grounded in affordable, design-forward pet accessories. Now tested by the next generation of four-legged angels–Browne (our namesake!), Beasley, Chip, and Bill. (RIP to one of the best, Butch.)
